I did not know Sasha was a musician! Thank you for sharing. I haven't heard much news on a new book. According to James Oroc (http://realitysandwich.com/217250/second-psychedelic-revolution-part-two/), Sasha had completed his portion of a third volume, and its completion is up to Ann.

Just had lunch with my Dad. Spent a lot of it talking about Sasha. He was friends with him for 20 or more years, played together in the symphony. Music is another avenue to the soul. Evidently he was an excellent musician- played viola and piano (and something else, I've forgotten, clarinet maybe). What an incredible treasury of human cognizance. It's kind of sad the articles are all consigning him as the "Godfather of Ecstasy", he was so much more than that. From our discourse shared over lunch I got such a strong sense of his humanity, kindness and brilliant character. He mentioned Sasha was working on a compendium, that his sight was failing and his wife Anne was helping him. I'm curious if that ever saw completion. RIP Sasha

It is a shame to have lost such a magnificent person like Sasha. At least we know he was happy near his death. There is nothing wrong with death but I can't help but feel bad for those who suffer a dreadful death.
He has changed psychedelic culture forever and will always be honoured as a pioneer of psychonautics. His work has touched so many people in so many ways. Sasha is one of those people I wish I could have met before he passed away but I guess I'll have to settle for Hamilton Morris's interview which is a beautiful video. He has truly changed my life in the most positive of ways and I will never forget him and his legacy.

I love what is said at the end about how the white powder gave him that experience but does not contain the experience and that drugs do not have skill. The drugs are nothing more than catalysts, the actual experience depends on you more than anything. Those two comments display Sasha's deep wisdom on this subject matter.
Rest in Peace Alexander Shulgin,
You will forever be loved.

In reply to <a href="http://psychedelicfrontier.com/good-bye-sasha-chemist-alexander-shulgin-dies/#comment-369">Spirit Wave</a>.

Good comments. I agree completely that skill is an important and oft-overlooked aspect of the psychedelic experience, which as you point out, is not at all a guaranteed euphoria. Rather, it's a very different cognitive and emotional space that takes time and effort to learn to navigate. Our cultural lens of "drug-taking equals reckless hedonism" does not in any way predispose young users to approach it in the right way. In fact, it prepares them for disaster. This is a product of the anti-drug propaganda that passes for education, the punitive approach of Prohibition, and a general culture of taboo surrounding illicit substances. I think we are slowly moving in the right direction with the help of people like Michelle Alexander, Dr. Carl Hart, Rick Doblin, and of course Dr. Shulgin.

Love the video and the music. The splashes have a relaxing effect, and the slow visual changes are hypnotizing. Thanks for your excellent contributions to psychedelic media.
